Welcome to Kingsway

Kingsway HallKingsway was formed in 1997 to benefit communities in and around its Grade II listed Forest Town base. The building was famously named after a 1914 royal visit from George V and Queen Mary. The initial reason for the charity's formation saw local people get together to save the then derelict premises. Kingsway Community Project was established to have positive community impact. Activities have focussed and run from Kingsway Hall but reach across Mansfield through, for example, youth work outreach, befriending scheme, the former Forest Town Crier which was delivered to over 6,000 homes and businesses across Forest Town and the over 50s' Resource Centre for which we were the Mansfield base.

Events for older peopleOur main areas of work have run throughout the entire period and have included youth work, an after school kids club and older people’s groups and support. Further to these there have been businesses association meetings, job fairs, Christmas lights projects, summer and Christmas child care provision and many and various courses primarily through excellent partnership with West Notts College who to this day work closely with us.

Kingsway Kids Club commenced in 1998 and has provided important childcare facilities for families with children at Forest Town Schools.  The club has run successfully for a decade before closing in 2009 with an across the board ‘good’ report from Ofsted in place. We are a truly community building as we are open seven days a week with both our own activities and the many diverse groups we host.
